IN THE BEGINNING
Venice based designer, Andres Ariza started his design career as a result of a frustrating housing search for himself and his then 4 year-old son. Wanting a home with high ceilings, polished concrete floors and an overabundance of light, Ariza decided to start from scratch and purchased an empty lot in Venice. Since the initial project, Ariza through MXA Development, has completed numerous single family projects, one of which what would later be known by the community as the “Red Barn”. Ariza’s concept has now been refined and launched as a turnkey complete home that is available in 9 states under the moniker “Red Barn Prefab.” Sustainability being a major concern, Ariza’s vision integrates a steel framed home made from recycled steel, concrete flooring containing Fly Ash, FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified EcoTimber flooring, efficient Energy Star-rated kitchen appliances, dual-Pane windows with Low-E Glass and radiant heating.

"The concept, which utilizes a seemingly basic industrial steel structure,” Ariza says, “provides a cost-efficient, environmentally sensitive and stylish modern home."
